NARS Taj Mahal

I bought this little gem a couple months ago, but since I started working, my experimentation with blush has severely decreased. Still, I knew I had to have this when I saw the beautiful, orange color. For someone who hasn't really experimented with blush all too much, and who hadn't owned a NARS blush before this one, it was quite the bold move.

The picture above was taken in the sunlight, and you can see the heavy amount of shimmer and gold flakes! While admittedly beautiful, I prefer more matte blushes to avoid my face turning into one big glitter fest at the end of the day. Luckily, NARS blushes are known to be highly pigmented- a little goes a long way-and this one is no different. The orange really comes through, even when lightly applied.
More heavily swatched for picture purposes
My only issue with this blush is that most of it seems to rub off after 2-3 hours, and all that's left is a twinge of orange and a lot of gold. I still think that it's worth it for those couple hours, since it is such a different and gorgeous shade. NARS also has a similar eyeshadow shade in its "exclusive" duo, Balthazar. It has a steep price tag of $33, but wow, the 2 colors are absolutely stunning!

Do you guys own any NARS blushes? Would you wear this color?

A Few Favorites, Paired

J Crew jacket, American Apparel scarf, J Crew Sweater, H&M Pants, Aldo Bag, Ralph Lauren heels
La Mer watch, J Crew bracelet
Today was a casual Saturday spent running errands. I threw on a few of my current favorite pieces and was pleasantly surprised at how they all came together. I've been loving how the military style and gold detailing of the J Crew jacket can complement so many different outfits. In an effort to be more adventurous with colors, I bought this mustard colored sweater. While it may be one of the few colorful items in my closet, I wear it often, paired in many different ways (I'm sure you'll be seeing it again soon).

In terms of jewelry, I've been pairing this turquoise and gold La Mer watch with a similarly colored bracelet. I'm so happy to have stumbled upon this perfect pair, since my La Mer has been collecting dust in my (mess of a) jewelry drawer for quite some time.

Hope you all are having a great weekend so far! Thanks for reading!

Monday, January 16

It's halfway through January, and I am still unable to clearly articulate my new years resolutions. This year, it seems that my thoughts, goals, ideas, etc have been more scattered than ever. The good news is that I will spare you from reading a long post detailing what I plan on doing differently this year, and instead you'll probably see bits and pieces of them in random posts.

However, one definite resolution I have is to budget and detail my spending habits effectively. Last year, I started using Mint, an excellent online tool for budgeting and managing finances. My only issue with Mint is that when I analyze my expenses, I generally see one large, lump sum amount under the "Shopping" category- no doubt I am always receiving warning emails from Mint that I have exceeded my predetermined budget. Yes, I hope to spend less this year. But more importantly, I am aiming to make fewer, more satisfying purchases. Towards the end of last year, when I graduated and began working full time, I also realized that I wanted to move towards a more simplified wardrobe-one with basic, versatile pieces.

Inspired by Rachel's post on her 2012 Spending Strategy, I am going to start posting my purchases, so I will be able to catalog them and evaluate them at any given point. I agree with Rachel that this could get a tad embarrassing, but I am willing to give it a try. Oh, and I feel like I should just put this out there right now- I am a compulsive online shopper..

How do you guys budget and manage your shopping habits addiction?
Thanks for reading and sticking around through my randomness!

Mini Pencil Skirt

Top: Zara, Skirt: J Crew, Belt: Zara, Flats: Bandolino

I was thinking of posting regarding the New Year and resolutions (I still might), but looking back, I'm glad I didn't. One weekend into 2012, and I've already had one of the least productive weekends ever. As in, 0% productivity. No gym, no laundry, no cleaning, no cooking.. Just to top it all off, I'm going to end this Sunday night with a nice, big bowl of mint chocolate chip ice cream. God, such a rebel.
Being weird, looking for pine cones, you know.
