Christmas Flair

Adding simple syrup to water in an ice cube tray makes an excellent addition to a glass of champagne. I threw in some red food coloring for dramatic effect.
I fell in love with these printable tags from Compulsive Craftiness. All I needed was some Elmer's glue and I went glitter happy.
Hm, didn't realize how much I used food coloring this past weekend. In any case, I added a couple drops of food coloring into a bowl of coconut flakes before adding the flakes into cookie batter. I used this recipe as a rough guide and loved the result.

In The Spirit of Giving

Vince Camuto "Missie" Pump
I'm not sure what it is about Christmas time that makes me feel especially giving.. towards myself, that is. I could try to make excuses, like you know, my birthday is ten days before Christmas, I've been lusting after these beautiful Vince Camuto babies for months, etc etc, you get the picture. But no, I fell in love, and love is the only excuse I have. I ended up wearing these to a holiday party only hours after I purchased them. My only concern is that the suede already seems to have dulled a bit. Other than that, I am thrilled about my ($120) investment in my happiness! Thanks for reading!

Sunny Saturday

Cardigan: J Crew; Scarf: Zara, Boots: Aldo, Ray Ban Sunnies
We spent the better part of Saturday in the Mission, stuffing ourselves with brunch at Brunch Drunk Love, then digesting and being silly in Dolores Park. The sunny and pleasant weather makes it hard to remember that Christmas is just around the corner, but my sparkly nails are a friendly reminder.

Autumn Animal Print

I finally gave in and bought the first animal print item in my wardrobe. I regret nothing! It has been serving as the perfect layering piece to autumn colored outfits, like this one.

Another Successful Thanksgiving

It's hard to have an unsuccessful Thanksgiving. The holiday itself is a recipe (pun totally intended) for success- complete with food, family, and fun. That's not to say Thanksgiving dinner went without a hiccup. From buying the wrong type of squash at the grocery store, to forgetting multiple things in the oven due to distractions (harvest margaritas!), and overall kitchen chaos, I'd say we had our fair share of obstacles. But in the end, there was amazing food on the table and smiles on our faces.
Ok, now onto the point of this post.  I couldn't let this Thanksgiving pass without sharing two amazing dessert recipes. First, this amazing and easy apple crisp recipe from Joy The Baker. Throw some vanilla ice cream on this, and sit back as it's sure to be a crowd pleaser.  And second, this Cranberry Orange Trifle from Taste Food
This picture does not do the trifle justice, but the pictures on Taste Food definitely do so go check it out there! It may seem complicated because the number of steps, but I assure you they are all fairly simple. The only change that I made to this recipe, was by accident, and that was my boyfriend pouring some red wine into the cranberries as they were cooking on the stove top. I think it was good?
These recipes are two that I will definitely be making again (Christmas?). I hope you guys had a successful Thanksgiving as well! :) Thanks for reading!

Decorating With Details

Tray: TJ Maxx, Mini Bowls: Target
For those little things that never seem to get put away
Candle & Candle Dish: Target
Sandlewood Candle, the best smelling candle ever
Holiday Gravy Dish: TJ Maxx
Holds keys.. and gravy?
Shoes lined up in front of a full-length mirror
Too many shoes, too little space
It's important to optimize space when working with a small area. This leaves little room for things that serve no purpose other than decoration. To find a happy medium, I tried to find items with simple details that would double as decoration and storage..

Kitchen Decor

My little, barely 50 square foot kitchen, was bare and boring when I moved in. I knew it needed some more counter space, and definitely some brightness. The solution?
A kitchen cart from Wal-Mart & colorful Anthropologie bowls for display
Textured plates from Ikea
Simple silverware with a cute rhinestone detail
At first I was intimidated to decorate my kitchen and didn't know how to start or which direction to go in. Looking back, I think my kitchen was the easiest to decorate. I bought colorful dish towels from Target that match my kitchen mat, and use the kitchen cart as counter space and display. The combination of colors and textures adds a cute and simple element to the kitchen.

New Purchase

Edition by Banana Republic
Ever since I've moved to San Francisco, I've been hunting for soft light weight scarves like this one. They're so fun to play around and make different outfits with, not to mention how practical they are for the weather here. So far this is the only one I've added to my collection, and I'm actively seeking more!

In other news, the store where I found this scarf, Edition by Banana Republic, has been my new found favorite. I went into the store for the first time just to check it out, and walked out with a bag within ten minutes. The next time I went, I found this scarf. It seems to be a great store for finding those wardrobe completing "pieces". I strongly recommend checking it out!

Favorite Lipstick

So funny little story- I seem to have misplaced my camera charger for the past two weeks and at the same time my internet was down, which made for quite the blogging disaster. I had been meaning to share these pictures for a while now and was just waiting for my internet to work again. Today's been one heck of a day because I woke up and found my camera charger (fine, my boyfriend found it, but still) AND my internet started working again! Yay!

MAC Lipstick: Ravishing

For most people, it's a difficult task to choose a favorite lipstick. But I must admit that before finding this color, I was not wearing lipstick regularly. And although I've opened myself to other lipsticks, I still find myself reaching for this one almost every day. Ravishing is a creamy coral with a beautiful pink undertone. I may be a little late on this, since shades like these have almost defined this summer's palette of bright corals and oranges, but since it's summer in San Francisco now, I still haven't put this away :) I know it's a bold statement, but this might just be my favorite lipstick of all time! What are your guys "all time favorite" lipsticks?

Holy Grail Hair Care

I love trying new hair care products. But since I don't have a regular hair care routine-besides for you know, washing- I am extremely selective of which products I let into my "inner circle". That being said, I'm on what seems like a life-long journey to find volumizing products that don't weigh down your hair.

This Bumble&Bumble surf spray is the best product I've tried so far that gives volume and wave. Added bonus: it smells freaking amazing. When I first bought it, I felt guilt for paying the steep $23 for just 4oz, thinking that the beach hair look may just be a phase. But I've had this little bottle for about 6 months now and I've actually found many uses for it. To achieve the beach wave look that surf spray is generally used for, I spray this about three times on my wet hair at my roots. I also use this as a dry shampoo of sorts. It revives unwashed hair (don't judge- we all have those mornings) and adds more volume to my hair than a normal dry shampoo. The most frequent use I found for this spray is when my hair is wet, I throw it into a messy bun while I am getting dressed and putting my makeup on, and spray this twice onto the bun. When I take my hair down, it has amazing waves. I am usually out of time at this stage in my morning routine, but blow drying your hair at this point would give it soft, long lasting volume. This spray is a little on the expensive side, but seeing as I found other uses for it I think I am willing to buy it again. Conveniently, Bumble&Bumble is available at Sephora.

Ok, I've bought this shampoo at least 5 times. That says a lot, seeing as I generally like to shop around and see what's out there instead of committing to one shampoo. If you've had a keratin treatment or just generally like to stay away from sulfates, as I do, then I strongly recommend this shampoo. It's one of the few that I found to have almost the same cleansing power as a shampoo that contains sulfates. I'm hoping it's not just my imagination, but I feel as if my hair has a nice volume and texture to it after using this. The little things help too: it smells very good, but not overwhelming, and the packaging is cute. If you live nearby a Safeway, you can frequently find these shampoos and conditioners on a buy one get one free promotion.

Do you guys have any holy grail hair care products? Thanks for reading!
